We have limited sizes left in this boot now as they have been discontinued, but please try the Easyboot Wide Glove instead which is designed for a round or wider than long hoof and replaces the Old Mac Orginal G1 Hoof Boots.
Old Mac's original multi purpose horse boots were one of the first commercially available hoof boots produced. They are the only hoof boot that fits a wider than long hoof effectively so we feel they still have a very important place in the UK market. The old mac original G1 hoof boot has a unique high-tech performance out sole, incorporating the unique hoof suspension system. Constructed from a specially developed ThermoPlastic Urethane (TPU) compound, it absorbs shock and aids recovery from concussion related injuries, as well as helping to prevent them. The sole of the G1 Old Mac's is fairly aggressive which is good for traction on slippery surfaces. The breakover can be a little far forward for some horses with the original old mac hoof boot- if this is the case we recommend that a toe rocker is filed onto the front of the G1 (much the same as would form naturally with wear but by doing it manually it gives the ideal breakover straight away). The Old Mac's original horse boots are an easy hoof boot to put on, and can be fastened whilst the hoof is on the ground. Old Mac's open right out to allow entry of the foot, and fasten using two means, an internal Velcro style webbing pastern strap followed by wrapping the boot around the foot, and securing using the Velcro style closure and a sturdy buckle at the rear of the boot. The boots come with full fitting instructions, net storage bag and 90 day guarantee as well as neoprene pastern wraps. The pastern wraps are recommended when wearing the boots for the first few times, a similar principal to wearing socks with trainers, they help to prevent any rubbing. If your horse is covering more than 25 miles a week or has sensitive skin it may be wise to use the pastern wraps in this situation too. Comfort pads are advised for use in any hoof boot for the most natural and beneficial experience for your horse. For general use a 12mm medium Old Macs comfort pad is recommended for Old Mac's Multipurpose hoof boots. To fit your original old macs with pads, draw around the boot on top of the pad and then cut out.
