The Korsteel sweet iron loose ring french link snaffle french is a useful bit for sensitive horses as it has fairly thick bars. The french link is often favoured by horses as the lack of palette pressure makes the bit more comfortable and relieves pressure on the horses bars. Often wrongly mistaken for a Dr Bristol, the french link snaffle is a very kind bit, as the central plate is shaped and lies flat on the tongue passively. Sweet iron is a good metal for horse bits, as it provides the horse with a 'taste', stainless steel is a very bland metal and a lot of horses find it difficult to relax and mouth a stainless steel bit.
